Access can do it all, because it’s a database platform. Normally, if you used Excel for the storage of your data, it would be very hard to create a report from inside the program. With Access, it’s very easy, because there are already built-in templates that can compile the data for you.
The problem with trying to get 32 bit Access apps to work in an Access 2010 64 bit environment (Full or Runtime) is that certain Long variables need to have the 64 bit Long version instantiated in the underlying code. That is where most issues of running 32 bit Access apps in 64 bit versions of Access 2010 come from. On 64 bit version of access, you must use 64 bit wide variables for this purpose. That means access 64 has a new variable type called longlong which is 64 bits wide. And perhaps even better news, is we finally get a true data pointer type, called longPtr. Feb 23, 2013 · Access has limitations that become noticeable when your database grows too big. 64-bit is probably best avoided for now; very few people need the extra memory capacity and there have been compatibility issues with the 64-bit apps. You could consider moving your data to SQL Server Express.
